Victorious (stylized as VICTORiOUS) is an American sitcom created by Dan Schneider that originally aired on Nickelodeon from March 27, 2010 to February 2, 2013. The series revolves around aspiring singer Tori Vega (portrayed by Victoria Justice), a teenager who attends a performing arts high school called Hollywood Arts High School, after taking her older sister Trina's (Daniella Monet) place in a showcase while getting into screwball situations on a daily basis. On her first day at Hollywood Arts, she meets Andre Harris (Leon Thomas III), Robbie Shapiro (Matt Bennett), Rex Powers (Robbie's puppet), Jade West (Elizabeth Gillies), Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande), and Beck Oliver (Avan Jogia). The series premiered after the 2010 Kids' Choice Awards. The series won for Favorite TV Show award at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards and 2013 Kids' Choice Awards, even beating out iCarly. Victorious has had four Emmy nominations.

On August 10, 2012, Victoria Justice stated that the series would not be renewed. Also, after the announcement of the series' spin-off Sam & Cat was made, fans of Victorious expressed dismay that its spin-off series was the reason for its ending, but Dan Schneider himself stated otherwise. Although the Victorious cast only filmed three seasons, when the decision to end the series was made, Nickelodeon split the third season in half, making a fourth season.

Why It Rocks

  1. Amazing set design and lighting. In fact, it was even filmed at a real high school.
  2. Plenty of episodes to enjoy.
  3. Great songs, including the theme song.
  4. Realistic and relatable storylines.
  5. Plenty of funny and likable characters, such as Tori (the wannabe), Andre (the musician), Robbie (the nice, awkward guy), Jade (the bad girl), Beck (the hot guy), Cat (the ditz), and Rex (the puppet), and Trina (the annoying older sister).
  6. The website the characters use, "The Slap" (a parody of Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube) is really cool, and It avoids product placements.
  7. Plenty of funny and hilarious moments.
  8. Creative storylines.
  9. The acting is pretty good in the earlier seasons.
  10. It had a crossover with iCarly in 2011. Not only that, but some of iCarly's cast members, specifically Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress, make brief cameos as audience members.
  11. Even after the crossover, there was still room for references to iCarly to be made, such as having the logo pop up in certain places and even a cameo from Gibby in "Tori Goes Platinum". They even made a spin-off where Sam and Cat become friends. Although it wasn't very good, it was nice to see the characters return.
  12. The color scheme is perfect.
  13. It shows kids what it's like to go to a performing arts school.
  14. Rex is a hilarious comic relief character with his snarky comments. Kristopher Kane did an outstanding job voicing him.
  15. Cat Valentine is a super-adorable character and you can count on her to make you smile. She was a fan-favorite and got a co-lead in Sam&Cat.
  16. Andre Harris and Beck Oliver are both great straight men to their friends' antics.
  17. The relationship between Tori and Trina is good, with Tori's more sensible and down to earth personality playing off of Trina's narcissistic, rude, and desperate for fame attitude.
  18. The show had one episode as a parody of The Breakfast Club, which is not only funny but also a nice tribute to the movie.
  19. Robbie sings the Drake & Josh theme song on the end credits of the episode "Jade Gets Crushed".
  20. It was super popular when it came out.

Bad Qualities

  1. Some of the characters can be very unlikeable, like Jade West and Trina Vega.
  2. Some of the jokes are too mean-spirited.
  3. The show can have some very bad morals. It's mainly there to entertain.
  4. There are plenty episodes that aren't good at all, such as Pilot, The Bird Scene, The Great Ping Pong Scam, Tori Gets Stuck, Brain Squeezers, and the next show, Sam & Cat was also a pretty big step-down.
  5. It can be very stereotypical at times.
  6. While Tori VegaLCW is a good protagonist, compared to other characters in the show, she can often come off as the least interesting, or in some occasions, the least likeable.
  7. The show can have some very inappropriate jokes, such as Sikowitz saying "Andre, nobody wants to see big nudes."
  8. It wrongly portrays the performing world as all fun and games.
  9. The students usually don't get appropriate consequences for their actions.
  10. The acting starts to sag a bit in the later seasons.
  11. Despite being a hit Dan Schneider show, this show had no other direct connections to older shows.
  12. The writing is very poor, and it happened to be so bad, that the show even earned a kids choice award. The writing continues to get worse in later seasons/shows, eventually causing Dan Schneider's downfall.
  13. Little to no character development despite having four seasons.
  14. For example, cat's personality gets ruined after season 2.
  15. The final episode, "Victori-Yes" (it was the last in airing order, but "The Slap Fight" was the last one in production order), was a horrible way to end the show, as it unexpectedly got cancelled and this episode was not originally how they planned to end the show.

I love this show...I watch all the episodes on repeat, but I don't get the hype. It's great, but what makes it the BEST?

It was popular on Netflix.

This show could've done with more conflict between the Vega Sisters, with Tori being the more innocent, self-aware, and logical one, and Trina being the more ambitious and imaginative, but lazy and selfish one.
