Aladdin: the Series (Or Disney's Aladdin or simply Aladdin) is an animated series based off the Disney Film of the same name and part of the Aladdin franchise. It aired from 1994 to 1995 and set between between The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves.

Aladdin is now engaged to the beautiful Princess Jasmine. Jafar is now dead but now new foes seek to take over or destroy Agrabah, or conquer the Seven Deserts. With his clever wit and friends, Aladdin must defend his future kingdom and prepare to become a great Sultan.

Why It Rocks

  1. In the span of almost one year, 86 episodes were produced.
  2. New enemies to take the place of Jafar, including Mozenrath (whom Iago called Jafar Jr. due to being hungry for power like the former), Mechanicles (greatest of the great Greek geniuses), Abis Mal the bandit from the sequel, Amin Damoola, Nefir, Ayam Aghoul, and Mirage, an incarnation of evil.
  3. Memorable characters and villains and interesting episodes.
  4. Many voice actors from the movie return with the exception of Robin Williams.
  5. Based on Arabian, Persian and Indian mythologies.
  6. Good musical score.
  7. Tons of funny moments. The Genie provides the funniest moments possible as seen here.
  8. Decent animation, although...
  9. The series develops and fleshes out Aladdin and Jasmine's romantic relationship even further until their marriage in the film Aladdin and the King of Thieves, which serves as a great ending to the series.
  10. The feature films The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, while still pales in comparison to the original 1992 film, serves as decent bookends to the series as it's series premiere and series finale respectively.

Bad Qualities

  1. There are times when the animation gets a little weird. In one instance, Aladdin's eyes go fully black with the Nostalgia Critic thinking that Aladdin was dead.
  2. Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship was considered kind of bland.
  3. Iago can be very annoying at times.
    • Aladdin himself can also be unlikable once in a while. Speaking of which, he also started to become a little more stupider than he usually is or once was in the movie, though he’s still smart.
  4. Dan Castellaneta's performance for Genie is average at best when compared to Robin Williams' performance as Genie.
  5. Just like with Chuck Jones' Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies and Animaniacs, everything suddenly stops in mid-action every now and then and the pacing can be sluggish at times.

Though the Nostalgia Critic did give it a fair share of criticism, he admitted that he was aware a lot of people liked the show and didn't go overboard because of it.
