Beavis and Butt-Head is an animated comedy series by Mike Judge that aired in 1993 on MTV. It was briefly revived in 2011 and would be revived again sometime around third-quarter of 2021, this time on Comedy Central. The show is centered around a pair of vulgar, dim-witted teenagers who cause mischief and try (and fail) to impress women.
Why It Rocks
- Memorable side characters, such as Daria (who got her own series due to her popularity) and Tom Anderson (basically an prototype of Hank Hill from King of the Hill).
- The modern-day Laurel and Hardy.
- Surprisingly good social commentary.
- The duo's stupidity and crude jokes somehow never get old and can even be clever at times.
- The amusing Mystery Science Theater 3000-style riffs on music videos, especially on videos they don't like.
- It had a feature-length movie called Beavis and Butt-Head Do America which featured many funny and memorable scenes.
- The intro music is very cool.
- It was Mike Judge's first ever show and is pretty good for a first show.
- The show's animation got better when the show went on.
- "I am The Great Cornholio, and I need TP for my bunghole!"
Bad Qualities
- Crudely animated at times, especially in the early episodes.
- Can be pretty mean-spirited at times, such as the ending of "Young, Gifted and Crude", where Coach Buzzcut encourages Beavis and Butthead's class to beat up a mentally handicapped student.
- The show was briefly yanked off the air after a five-year-old boy was allegedly inspired by the show to burn down his trailer home, killing his two-year-old sister.
- It's impossible for a truly complete collection to come out due to a combination of copyright laws (especially in regards to the music videos), controversy, and the fact that Mike Judge simply hates certain episodes.
- Overuse of toilet and gross-out humor.
- Beavis and Butthead have little to no personality outside being stereotypical slacker teenagers.
