The Deerfox is the ninth episode of the second season, and the twenty-second episode of the Hilda TV series.

After Hilda's deer-fox companion Twig leaves home and runs into the wilderness, Hilda and her mum set off on a search that stirs bittersweet memories.

Why It Rocks

  1. This episode stars Hilda's cute and loyal companion, Twig!
  2. The visuals and animation are very impressive here like Twig's dream and the scene where Twig enters another dimension.
  3. This is the most emotional, tear-jerking episode of Hilda.
  4. They are many beautiful and touching moments like where Twig decides to save Hilda from an eagle instead of going with his herd during a flashback, and another scene where Twig finally goes with his herd to another dimension but he starts missing Hilda and decides to come back.
  5. Hilda and Johanna's memory flashbacks in the wilderness is really heartwarming as we see Hilda when she was little and we see how Hilda met Twig.
  6. Not to mention, little Hilda is very cute!
  7. We learn more about deer-foxes in this episode and we even get to see more of them!
  8. This is the first time we've seen Hilda and her mom go on an adventure together, the second time being in "Chapter 13: The Stone Forest".
  9. Twig was very heroic, he fought off an eagle that was attacking Hilda in a flashback mentioned in #4 and he fought a wolf that was going after Hilda. These were very awesome to watch too.
  10. The ending was touching, there was one last flashback where Hilda and Twig go on their first adventure.
  11. Despite the emotional tone, they are still some funny moments like Hilda and her friends trying to get David's shoes back from a ghost.

  • This is the first episode where Twig plays a major role.
  • This is the second longest episode in the entire series at 34 minutes long, the first being Chapter 13: The Stone Forest at 46 minutes long.
  • This episode was acclaimed and currently has a rating 9.8/10 on IMDb, making it one of the highest rated episodes the show on the site.
