"Fright Night" is the thirteenth episode in the first season of Danny Phantom.

Plot

When he catches Danny and Dash fighting at school, Mr Lancer offers them a chance to avoid detention by competing in a haunted house contest instead of giving them detention with Danny and Dash making a bet on who will win. When Danny feels he's losing, he steals the sword of the Fright Knight, the ghost spirit of Halloween, in an attempt to make his haunted house scarier.

Why It Rocks

  1. Mr Lancer calling Dash out for picking on Danny just because he accidentally spilled paint on him was somewhat satisfying, despite him also calling Danny out.
  2. Danny's haunted house looks pretty decent, but Dash's looks really cool and spooktacular, and even more so when the sword of the Fright Knight brings the skeletons to life.
    • But Danny's becomes even more cool when the Fright Knight makes everything more scary, and there was even a scene where Mr Lancer gets trapped in a room full of chalkboards with alive equations.
  3. The fight Danny has with the ghost at the start was decent, but all the fights he has with the Fright Knight are even better.
  4. The Fright Knight looks amazing, and the fact that he can summon his weapon out of a pumpkin and turn things into monsters is very impressive.
  5. Some funny moments, such as Jack saying "Code 5, code 5, this is not a drill!" to some of the trick-or-treaters and then one says "costumes, what are they, plumbers?"
  6. Sam blasting the ghosts with a goop sword was a clever move, along with Danny putting the Fright Knight's sword in a pumpkin head - which then causes everything to turn back to normal.
  7. "Trick and treat, bumpkin!" - Danny Fenton.
  8. Although the ending was bad, it was about to be good with Danny winning the haunted house contest, him confessing to Mr Lancer that he actually stole his parents' devices but he doesn't care due to Danny's house being a masterpiece.

Bad Qualities

  1. Although Mr Lancer had a right to call Dash out for picking on Danny, Danny barely did anything wrong aside from accidentally spilling paint on Dash.
  2. Despite Dash's haunted house looking spooktacular, he was still mean-spirited for picking on Danny when he accidentally spilled paint on him, and the fact that he would make him eat his underwear if he lost is very disgusting.
  3. Bad ending: Just as Mr Lancer declared Danny as the winner of the haunted house contest, Danny's parents shoot Lancer, and so he gives the award to Dash, instead. And yes, we did see Danny looking at Dash's underwear.

  • The name of the street on the sign on the stop-sign-turned-light-post (Elm Street) is a reference to the 1984 movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street.
