Mundo da Lua is a Brazilian series produced and aired by TV Cultura, created by Flávio de Souza and starring Luciano Amaral, originally shown between October 6, 1991 and September 27, 1992, totaling 52 episodes.

Why It Rocks

  1. This is considered the first TV series on TV Cultura, being responsible for inspiring the channel to develop several other great children's TV series in the following years like: Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum, Confissões de Adolescente, Cocoricó, Ilha Rá-Tim-Bum, and others.
  2. Excellent acting by Luciano Amaral, Antônio Fagundes, Mira Haar, Mayana Blum, Gianfrancesco Guarnieri, Anna D'Lira, and several others actors.
  3. It was responsible for introducing the child actor Luciano Amaral (playing Lucas Silva e Silva), who would later become known for playing Pedro in Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum also in the 1990s.
  4. The show is heavily inspired by the American children's series.
  5. This represents very well what life was like for middle-class families in Brazil during the first half of the 1990s.
  6. It has good references to early 90s pop culture and technology, including the character Blixto which is a reference to Mario in the NES generation.
  7. It has memorable characters, especially the protagonist Lucas Silva e Silva.
  8. The concept of the show is amazing, a boy who often creates and imagines stories involving fantasy and adventures with himself and his family based on his life experiences.
  9. Some lines are memorable, like when Lucas turns on his recorder to record his stories and says: "Hello! Hello! Planet Earth Calling! Planet Earth Calling! This is another edition of Lucas Silva e Silva's logbook, talking directly from Moon World, where anything can happen...".
  10. It has several funny moments.
  11. The opening and closing theme song is very good and memorable.
  12. The show even aired on Rede Globo in 1993, a few months after the end of the series.
  13. In 1993, after the end of the series, a series of spin-off educational shorts was developed called Lucas e Juquinha em Perigo! Perigo! Perigo! which shows tribute to classic cartoons like Tom and Jerry.

Bad Qualities

  1. Lucas is sometimes very arrogant and gets angry easily.
  2. The episode involving the Big Bad Wolf is considered too dark by some viewers.
