Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) is an American television comedy series created by Joel Hodgson and produced by Alternaversal Productions, LLC.
Why It Rocks
- The characters' hilarious commentaries.
- Catchy theme song, especially in the later seasons.
- Lovable characters, even the villains.
- The Invention Exchanges, in which the SOL crew demonstrate inventions that are fun, cool, or even useful while the Mads show off inventions that are dangerous, impractical, or just plain stupid (but all amusing nonetheless).
- Funny sketches that parody the movie they just saw.
- Some of the movies themselves are entertainingly bad in their own right, such as Space Mutiny.
- The Netflix revival is great, as the characters had more bad movies at hand, such as The Asylum's mockbuster Atlantic Rim (a mockbuster of Pacific Rim), and Mac and Me.
Bad Qualities
- Some of the movies themselves are so awful, not even their commentary could make them watchable, such as Monster a Go-Go.
- Some of the jokes can come off as obscure or dated.
- One episode from the show's KTMA season is missing. While they were still clearly finding their feet in that season, it's a shame not to be able to watch all of the episodes from it.
Trivia
- The Google Chromecast AC adapter’s model number MST3K-US is a reference to the TV show of the same name.
