Pucca (짜장소녀 뿌까, Jjajang Sonyeo Ppukka), is a South Korean-Canadian animated television series based on a series of shorts created by the South Korean company VOOZ Character System. The series revolves around Pucca, a young lady who is in love and obsessed with a ninja named Garu. It was aired on Jetix from 2006 to 2008.

The series centers around the adventures of an 11-year-old girl named Pucca, who lives in a town called Sooga Village. Her love interest is a 13-year-old ninja named Garu, who owns a cat. Her uncles work in the local restaurant called the Goh-Rong, whose main dish is Jajangmyeon noodles. Then, there's her best friend Ching, who is the same age and is in love with a boy named Abyo, who likes Kung-Fu a lot and is interested in girls.

그것이 지배하는 이유 (Why It Rules)

  1. Being based on the shorts by VOOZ, it manages to be faithful to its source material.
  2. The antics between Pucca trying to get Garu to love her is a joy to watch.
    • Unexpectedly, Garu and Pucca don't speak at all but are still very expressive, adding uniqueness to the show.
  3. There is lots of action.
  4. Some of the songs are quite good, especially the catchy theme song.
    • The fast-paced animation of Pucca and Garu running during the start of the opening theme looks really cool.
    • The credits for both seasons 1 and 2 looks colorful too.
  5. The voice acting is quite decent.
  6. It doesn't lack in funny moments, not even in the slightest.
  7. The settings in some of the episodes take place in different locations around the world.
  8. Most of the characters are very funny, likable and clever.
  9. Fluid animation that is true to the VOOZ shorts.
  10. The characters are very cute. Especially Pucca.
  11. The plot for each episode is simple and easy to follow.
  12. Tobe and Ring Ring are fantastic villains.
    • Lee Tockar (who voiced Eugene and the General from Johnny Test) gave Tobe an expressive voice and made him amusing. He is hilarious and also has his memorable catchphrase "Vengeance!"
  13. Stuck on Goo is an interesting episode.
    • "I have never known such...HORROR!"
  14. The revival series, Pucca: Love Recipe is quite good and the new characters are great. It stays faithful to seasons 1 and 2. Unfortunately, it's now owned by Planeta Group.

Bad Qualities

  1. Abyo is very annoying sometimes.
  2. Ring Ring can also be unlikeable, as she can get angry and having to make Pucca jealous by having Garu as her boyfirend.
  3. The plot is strange sometimes.
  4. It seems to have more characters than it needs to have.
  5. It was never revealed why Garu and Tobe are arch enemies.
  6. Pucca, the main protagonist, can be either creepy or too much of a stalker and a Mary-Sue.
  7. It tends to be very repetitive.
  8. This show is infamous in some parts of the world like Latin America due to its formulaic nature.
  9. In the episode "Ghost of a Kiss", there is an ending that is incredibly disturbing and terrifying, if not there is also a Jumpscare!
  10. The premiere episode, Funny Love Eruption wasn't very good, mainly because of the pacing issues.
  11. Despite what WIR#2 says, the way Pucca keeps stalking Garu throughout the show comes off as uncomfortable and unsettling in numerous situations, mainly because Pucca won't stop even after Garu shows he doesn't have the same feeling for her. This also teaches a toxic moral to children, making them believe that stalking others is a good thing just because "it's for love".
  12. There is also a gross out humor where Dada pees on the floor whenever he is nervous.

  • There are hints in the show and shorts that hint that Garu may indeed like Pucca back, such as when he got mad when Tobe called Pucca stupid and it's hinted he got jealous when Pucca chose his clone over him but joined with her to beat him up after he flirted with Ching.
  • The episode Tame the Toon implies that Tobe's need for "Vengeance" is really just an excuse to have a rival and nemesis to fight. When Garu was erased from existence, Tobe sought vengeance against Dada for no reason, claiming he needed "Vengeance" against someone.
