Raiders of the Lost Banana is the 4th episode of Donkey Kong Country.

Plot

Donkey Kong finds a golden banana inside Inka Dinka Doo's temple and gives it to Candy. However, the banana contains a curse that causes havoc for whosoever keeps it.

Why It Rocks

  1. The TV show characters, based on their video game counterparts, are more likable than usual, especially Candy Kong and Diddy Kong.
    • Bluster Kong is also likable and hilarious in this episode.
  2. The songs, "The Curse of the Golden Banana" and "Our Love is Stronger Than a Golden Banana", are both decent and catchy.
  3. This episode is very well written unlike most of the episodes.
  4. The animation and voice acting are better than usual.
  5. Funny moments in this episode, such as Polly Roger constantly switching sides, DK slipping on a banana peel while practicing dancing, and the bad luck that Candy brought Bluster.
  6. The temple was a cool new location with booby traps and the golden banana.
  7. It was sweet that DK gave Candy the golden banana for her anniversary gift, even if he did make a stupid mistake as he already learned it was cursed.
  8. DK later made up for his mistake when he rescues Candy from King K. Rool and his army, and they sang that their love is stronger than a golden banana, which made both Klump and even King K. Rool cry as they were touched by the song.
  9. The ending was good as DK and Diddy put back the golden banana in the temple. While Polly did steal it and gave it to King K. Rool, our heroes still had the last laugh as Cranky read in the book that it will bring K. Rool and his army even worse luck since K. Rool was planning to use it for evil, so a big explosion happened at the Kremling’s hideout.

Bad Qualities

  1. While sweet, DK already knew that the golden banana was cursed, so giving it to Candy was dumb. Thankfully, he made up for his mistake later on.
  2. While "Our Love is Stronger Than a Golden Banana" was a decent and catchy song, there was a questionable moment when Donkey Kong sings "I'd shower you with coconut cream pies".
