"Remembrance of Courage Past" is the first half of the thirteenth episode in the fourth season of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Courage's mysterious past comes to light when his parents were forcibly sent to space by a cruel veterinarian. When Muriel and Eustace notice he's not responding, still haunted by that treacherous event, they take him to the same vet that sent his parents into space, unaware that the vet is now going to send Courage off to space as well.

Why It Rocks

  1. Watching Courage's mysterious past was both nice and emotional at the same time.
  2. These satisfying moments where Eustace's mask doesn't scare Courage here, but then again that's because he was haunted by his mysterious past when finding a lost pet donation advertisement on the back of a milk carton, and when Courage screamed into the vet's stethoscope and pushed him into the rocket and so he blasted off into space, instead.
  3. Although in a cruel way, putting dogs into space and breeding them there is a pretty cool experiment.
  4. Courage's baby form, his parents, the monsters Baby Courage encounters when searching for his parents and the dogs found in space look pretty good/decent.
  5. That heartwarming moment where Muriel adopts Baby Courage - which explains how he lives with herself and Eustace in the middle of Nowhere.
  6. Good Ending: After Courage's backstory about his past finishes, we see him, Muriel and Eustace relax outside with Muriel wondering what happened to the veteranerian. Meanwhile, the veteranerian lands on the moon and gets his comeuppance by being attacked by all the dogs (including Courage's parents) that he sent to the place he's in.

The Only Bad Quality

  1. The veteranerian at the Pets of Tomorrow place was cruel for capturing Courage's parents and sending them into space without Courage (even if the experiment sounded cool), and for almost doing the same to Courage himself.
    • On top of that, Eustace was still intolerable for taking Courage's chicken dumplings when Courage froze due to him being haunted by his past, not congratulating him when he blasted the veteranerian to space and for raging when Muriel said how glad it is to be together.

  • It holds a rating of 9.2/10 on IMDB.

  • Courage screaming into the doctor's stethoscope is a reference to a gag from the Tom & Jerry cartoon, "Mouse Trouble".
