Roobarb is a British animated children's program created by Grange Calveley and animated by Bob Godfrey, which aired on BBC1 right before the evening news from 21 October to 27 November 1974.

Why It Rocks

  1. Roobarb himself is a very likeable and charming protagonist.
  2. Custard is also likeable, being very entertaining and funny.
  3. Very unique art style, which was done on paper with markers, looking like a child's drawing coming to life.
  4. The animation is okay at times.
  5. Memorable theme song and music.
  6. Great voice acting which was all done by the same guy, Richard Briers! Isn't that talent?
  7. Its reboot is just as good, if not even better.

Bad Qualities

  1. It was short-lived, only running for one season with 30 episodes.
  2. The animation is bad and looks pretty cheap for the most part, with most episodes having the characters speak without their mouths moving, likely due to the fact that every frame is a drawing made with markers.
  3. The episodes can go by a bit fast due to their short runtime.
  4. Roobarb is given a goofy voice in the US dub (which aired on Eureeka's Castle) and it sounds awful.
