"The Bird! The Bird!" is the first episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and the series premiere of DiC Entertainment's Super Mario cartoon trilogy. Its corresponding live-action segment is "Neatness Counts".

A Birdo mistakes Toad for her missing baby and kidnaps him, thus Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool must rescue him, while avoiding Koopa's attacks.

Why It Rocks

  1. It started the trilogy of DiC's Super Mario animated TV shows.
  2. Great voice acting, and is also one of the few times where Toad’s voice is passable.
  3. The animation in this episode is brilliant, as is the case with many series produced by DiC Entertainment.
  4. A lot of funny moments, some of which even spawned internet memes, such as when Cheepy's mother takes Toad away and him saying "Hey, let me go! I'm warning ya! I get airsick! Help!".
  5. There are a lot of memorable quotes, such as Princess Toadstool's "Don't worry, Mario, we'll be there without super power" line.
  6. The climatic action sequences are both thrilling and exciting at the same time.
  7. King Koopa is a very funny villain in this episode, and even has some very funny lines of dialogue too.
  8. "Spaghetti? We're not spaghetti, we're worms."

Bad Qualities

  1. The concept of Toad getting kidnapped by a Giant Birdo can be mean-spirited depending on your view.
  2. That one scene where King Koopa's minions lick his feet.

"The Bird! The Bird!" got positive reviews from critics, audiences, and fans of the Super Mario franchise. It holds a 7.1/10 rating on
