The Boondocks is an American adult animated sitcom on Cartoon Network's late-night programming block, Adult Swim. Created by Aaron McGruder, based upon his comic strip of the same name. This page will only apply to the first 3 seasons.
Summary
The show centers around a dysfunctional black family, the Freemans, settling into the fictional, friendly, and overall white suburb of Woodcrest.
Why These Seasons are The Stone That The Builder Refused
- It is very faithful to the comic it's based on, since it is created by the same author.
- It cleverly satirizes real life events, stereotypes, politics, social issues, and pop culture that makes the show both entertaining and relatable.
- Great animation that matches the comic book and anime style. Not only that but the animation improves in Seasons 2-4 as it looks like an actual anime.
- Awesome characters like Huey, Riley, Grandad, Tom Dubois, and Uncle Ruckus.
- A plethora of funny and compelling side characters.
- Great voice acting especially when you realize that Huey and Riley are both voiced by one person: Regina King, who does a great job at voicing both.
- It delivers important life lessons that the world is a tough place and that nobody is perfect.
- Amazing and well-choreographed action sequences.
- A lot of hilarious scenes such as Thugnificient's diss on Robert.
Bad Qualities
- Constant use of the infamous word N****.
- Michael Caesar, a character from the original comic strip, never appeared on the show.
- Season 4, the final season, was made without McGruder's involvement, and as a result, was poorly-received due to a plethora of reasons listed here.
