Twelve Forever is an American animated streaming series created by Julia Vickerman, a former writer and storyboard artist known for her work on Clarence, Rick and Morty, Harvey Girls Forever!, Paradise P.D. and The Powerpuff Girls. Twelve Forever premiered in the United States on Netflix on July 29, 2019.

Plot

A 12-year-old girl named Reggie has the ability to enter another world created by her powerful desire to stay 12 forever to escape the harshness of incoming adulthood.

Why It Rocks

  1. Reggie is a likable character with a reasonable explanation to not grow up.
  2. Colorful animation and cute art style.
  3. The Butt Witch is both an entertaining antagonist and is a good representation of how the female voice changes during puberty.
  4. Great voice acting.
  5. Creative character designs.
  6. Reggie has an emotional backstory where no one came to her birthday party.
  7. Catchy theme song.
  8. The show is very relatable to many pre-teens (like 12-year-olds) and teens like middle school students.
  9. Esther and Todd are also likable characters as well as Connelly.

Bad Qualities

  1. Some unlikable characters, namely Dustin and Dr. Champion.
  2. Some character designs also look creepy and ugly like Borbo for example.
  3. Some characters don't have a lot of character development.
  4. It has some toilet and gross-out humor.

Trivia

  • In September 2019, a Tumblr post from 2010 by Julia Vickerman, the show's creator and executive producer, was revealed which seemed to talk about self-described pedophilia involving a 14-year-old emo boy, putting the show in jeopardy. Shortly after, she was fired from the show for mistreating and sexually harassing the workers.
