Uchu Sentai Kyuranger is the 41st season of the Super Sentai franchise. It ran from February 12, 2017 - February 4, 2018. It succeeded Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger and preceded Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs Keisatsu Sentai Patranger. The predecessor being another good season.

After the Earth has been taken over by invaders, and the universe under their thrall, tears of people awoke the 9 (Later 12) Kyurangers, chosen by the Kyutama, and are here to save the galaxy and universe. 9 different people, 9 different personas.

The Kyurangers all together here.

Why It Rocks

  1. The first time there are more than 7 rangers, with the show starting with 9 and expanding to 12 later on.
    • I: Lucky/Shishi Red and Shishi Red Orion (Doubling as both the red ranger and white ranger later on, though Shishi Red Orion is a power-up).
    • II: Stinger/Sasori Orange
    • III: Garu/Ookami Blue
    • IV: Balance/Tenbin Gold
    • V: Champ/Oushi Black
    • VI: Naga Ray/Hebitsukai Silver
    • VII: Hammie/Chameleon Green
    • VIII: Raptor 283/Washi Pink
    • IX: Spada/Kajiki Yellow
    • X: Shou Ronpo (Also spelled Xiao Ronpo)/Ryu Commander
    • XI: Kotaro Sakuma/Koguma Skyblue
    • XII: Tsurugi Ohtori/Houou Soldier
  2. Each of the characters is very likable and have distinct personalities.
    • Lucky is the energetic primary red/white ranger.
    • Stinger is the dark/serious orange ranger.
    • Garu is the short-tempered/wild blue ranger.
    • Balance is the flamboyant/fast-paced gold ranger.
    • Champ is the strong black ranger.
    • Naga is the silent silver ranger.
    • Hammie is the optimistic/self-motivated green ranger.
    • Raptor 283 is the shy but intelligent pink ranger.
    • Spada is the charismatic/food-loving yellow ranger.
    • Shou is the wise yet funny violet ranger.
    • Kotaro is the young, but protective sky blue ranger.
    • Tsurugi is the prideful, but arrogant sixth/secondary red ranger.
  3. Similar to its predecessor, Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger, it also focuses on the 40th anniversary of Super Sentai despite Uchu Sentai Kyuranger not actually being an anniversary season itself.
  4. Lucky's bond with Garu and Hammie is very heartwarming.
    • Stinger's and Balance's bonds with Kotaro, Naga and Champ, respectively are just as heartwarming.
  5. Jark Matter and Don Armage are decent villains.
  6. Teamed with Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger and the Space Sheriffs.
    • Coincidentally, the Kyurangers, especially Shou allied with Doggie Kruger (Dekaranger mentor), and Lucky and Naga allied with Banban Akaza/DekaRed and Geki Jumonji/Space Sheriff Gavan Type-G.
      • By extension, both Shou Ronpo and Doggie Kruger are animal mentors (Dragon and dog respectively), and Lucky and Naga both shared the colors red and silver with Banban Akaza/DekaRed and Geki Jumonji/Space Sheriff Gavan Type-G
  7. They also teamed up with Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs Keisatsu Sentai Patranger and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, which are also great Super Sentai and Kamen Rider Seasons.
  8. The Humor isn't forced contrast to Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, and some of the humor is actually funny and there is an actual balance between humor and seriousness in the series.
  9. The OST is awesome.
  10. Awesome henshins and roll calls, in contrast to Ressha Sentai ToQger respectively.
  11. Had past Sentai references such as Shou's Ryu Voyager moving in the air behind the moon, which was a reference to Ryuseioh in the OP sequence in Gosei Sentai Dairanger and Shou deciding the name of the team as "Uchu Sentai Zyuranger", which was also a reference to Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger
  12. The suit designs are very epic, dynamic, and quite unique as well.

Bad Qualities

  1. Lucky and Tsurugi tend to be annoying at their debuts, but they do at least mature later, despite Lucky and Tsurugi still saying "Yossha Lucky!" and "Densetsu" multiple times respectively.
  2. Didn't get to team up with its predecessor (Mainly because it took place in an alternate universe), though having 12 rangers made up for that, due to Tsurugi Watanabe was involved in an cycle accident at Nerima, Tokyo, where he was riding in his bicycle and crashed with another cycle on November 2017.
  3. The Ending dance is not really all that great with the pelvic thrusting. This was changed to arm pumping after Space 12.
