Ultraman Orb is the 26th entry in the Ultra series, and was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ultraman and the 20th anniversary of Ultraman Tiga. It succeeded Ultraman X and will be succeeded by Ultraman Geed.

Why It Rocks

  1. The show did an amazing job celebrating the Ultra franchise by utilizing a unique "Fusion" gimmick.
  2. The suits and special effects are very beautiful, none of the suits or monster designs look bad.
  3. Gai Kurenai is a very likable Ultra host, even though we don't get much exploration to his character in the series, fortunately making up for that most of his origins and backstory was even further explored in the Origin saga.
  4. Orb no Inori, is a really catchy theme song, despite it's strange vibe of mostly people talking, within a submerged BGM.
  5. Jugglus Juggler is one of the most popular antagonists of the Ultra series, due to his personal connection with Gai and flamboyant personality, feeling similar to Dan Kuroto/Kamen Rider Genm and Evolto.
  6. The two had gotten their rivalry started since Gai was chosen to be Orb rather than Jugglus, which was an simple, yet affective concept.
  7. The finale was pretty decent, leaving Orb to be handled very well if it was needed later on in the franchise's run.
  8. Not only was it succeeded another great Ultra show (Ultraman Geed), but they also got an amazing crossover movie that shows why both seasons are amazing.

Bad Qualities

  1. The ending theme wasn't that great, and could be considered as rather subpar for an Ultra Series ending theme.
  2. The SSP were unbearable, each of them barely serving a purpose to instead act like annoying comic relief
    • Naomi arguably got the most focus, however her entire character ended being a damsel in distress who just screamed a lot
    • Jetta was also pretty pointless, and would act antagonistic towards Ultraman out of nowhere real fast
    • Shin was the most forgettable of the three, the show probably wouldn't of changed much if he wasn't there
  3. While the fusion gimmick was cool, Geed and Ultraman Z did the same concept much better.
  4. While good, the Origin Saga wasn't well received at all
