Kyle: You're not filling out nicely! You're fatter than ever!
Cartman: I'm not fat! I'm getting in shape!
Kyle: Cartman, you're such a fat ass, that when you walk down the street, people go "Goddamn it, that's a big fat ass"!
Cartman: No they don't, you jealous weakling!
Unnamed man: Goddamn, that's a big fat ass!

"Weight Gain 4000" is the second episode of the first season of the American animated television series South Park.

Why It Rocks

  1. Unlike the pilot, "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe", some jokes in it are actually somewhat funny:
    1. Mr. Garrison giving up on trying to kill Kathie Lee Gifford, but Stan immediately reminding him of one of things she did, causing Garrison to immediately change his mind, stating "The bitch must die!".
    2. Cartman's unintellegence results in more funny moments:
      1. Although this may be disturbing to some, Cartman gaining weight but thinking that he's "getting all buff" instead and still thinking the same way at the end.
        • Not to mention the quote "Goddamn it, that's a big fat ass!".
      2. Cartman believes that whales are unintelligent and that they live in igloos.
    3. Chef's somewhat inappropriate song about Kathie Lee Gifford.
  2. In addition to above, it is overall an improvement from the pilot, as the plot is more interesting and the episode has better jokes.
  3. Wendy has a lot of character development in this episode.
  4. Mr. Garrison's rivalry towards Gifford is an interesting subplot and has a decent backstory.
  5. The animation, while not great, is far better than "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe."

Bad Qualities

  1. As mentioned on WIR#5, the animation is not that great, but still far better than the animation in "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe".
  2. As mentioned on WIR#1N#2N#1, Cartman's weight can be disturbing to some.
